Last month I was one of the testers for the newly released Lucy knit bodice add-on and I’m in love all over again with this sweet little dress!
Lucy’s Racerback Tunic and Dress is already one of my favorite patterns (who am I kidding, every SLPco pattern is my favorite) but now that the knit bodice add-on is an option this pattern is simply amazing.
These big pockets are my favorite feature of Lucy. By now you probably know my love for pockets!! I put them on almost everything I make for the kids and myself. These pockets can be made rectangular (as shown) or rounded for a bit different look. They are the perfect size for little ones to easily put all of their treasures in.
Lets talk about all this add-on has to offer:
Narrow or more modest racerback
Sizes 2T-12, also available seperately in baby sizes
Layered printing option
The pattern add on does only contain the knit Lucy bodice pattern pieces, along with the tutorial on how to construct the bodice so you will need to purchase the woven version of Lucy for the skirt measurements if you don’t already have it.
The weekend I was testing this pattern we had some friends coming to visit. Their daughter is the cutest little lady you’ll ever meet and so full of spunk, I thought it would be fun to make her a dress to coordinate with Miss A and get the two of them behind the camera. Since I’m always full of great ideas at the very last minute I had exactly an hour to sew up two dresses before they got here…I knew there would be no sewing going on while they were here.
Lucy is such a quick sew and the knit bodice is even quicker since there are no buttons like the woven version. I had both dresses completed and was finishing up the last hem as they walked in the door.
The next day we took the girls to one of our favorite places to take pictures before we headed to the beach for some fun in the sand. My daughter calls it the forest but it’s really just a path through some trees. I guess it’s the closet thing to a forest when you live in Florida.
I had so much fun with the two of them. Most of the time I am asking my daughter to pose a certain way, which by the way is never how she wants to but with the two of them I was able to follow them around with the camera and just shoot. They had so much fun together. I think I might have to borrow my friend’s kids more often. 🙂
