Hello!! Today I’m blogging about Mandalynn of Striped Swallow Design‘s newest Bohemian beauty. She quickly won my heart with the girl’s Desert Breeze dress so you can imagine my excitement when I was chosen to test the women’s pattern. I can see this pattern quickly becoming a summer staple in my closet, as well as my daughter’s.
The Desert Breeze offers a wide range of sizes: XS-3X, three basic views: Top, Dress (as shown), and Gathered Dress along with three sleeve options: Fitted, Flutter, Flutter with Elastic (as shown).
*Mandalynn is working on a Slim-Fit Top add on and will be offering it with a free code to here Facebook group members. You can join here.
I love the beauty and simplicity of Striped Swallow Designs patterns. Mandalynn’s patterns includes layered printing along with the ability to easily navigate through the pattern with side tabs and this is no exception. Her concise and direct steps are clearly written for someone who is comfortable with sewing at an intermediate or advanced beginner level.
For my dress I found a fun aztec print at JoAnn’s. It’s a light weight cotton lycra and had wonderful drape. I wasn’t thinking when I purchased the fabric and should have bought more so I could make my little lady a matching dress as well. The view I made took a little less than two yards of fabric.
I also made a beach cover-up from a coral terry cloth I found at JoAnn’s but it has been raining so much lately we haven’t been to the beach. I will update with some pictures when the suns decides to stick around for a few days.
I’m a little late getting this out but the pattern is on sale right now using the coupon code breeze for 25% off during the Release Sale (expires Friday, April 1 at 11:59PM CST). I Hope you enjoyed my version of the Desert Breeze dress.
