The Holidays with Sisboom

I am very excited Sisboom decided to put on a Holiday blog tour.  I had such a wonderful time during the Back to School tour that I jumped at the chance to be a part of another.

The holidays are a very special time for me.  It’s a time for family gatherings, and traditions but they also have a special place in my heart when it comes to sewing.  The first dress I ever made my daughter as a baby was a Christmas dress and that is when my passion of sewing garments became real.  I love giving her something special each year, unique to her and her growing personality.

For this year’s Christmas dress, I chose to use the Marissa Dress PDF pattern.  It is so elegant but still captures an innocence that she possesses.  I don’t need her growing up any faster then she already is.

I love how the neckline brings a uniqueness to the dress and the sweetie pie cummerbund sash makes this dress.  I made my tall and slender little miss a size 3 and with the detailed measurement chart I was able to have the desired length.dsc_0215

One of my favorite things about this pattern is the attachment of the side zipper.  I’m not normally excited about attaching zippers but this method is so easy and the finished product is stunning.  I don’t think I’ll ever attach a zipper any other way.

I have been in love with the Christmas at Brambleberry Ridge line by  Micael Miller Fabrics for a while now and I knew it would be perfect for this project.  I used Knots and Loops for the dress and Bow Tie plaid in Garland Metallic for the sash and straps.

Just in time for the holidays, Sisboom came out with the Rachel Reindeer pattern so of course I had to make one.  Isn’t she so cute!?!  And the best part is she is a free pattern.  I used the Christmas at Brambleberry Ridge line for the reindeer also and love how it all came together.

Sisboom is graciously offering a copy of the Marissa PDF pattern to one lucky reader.

Wishing you a joyous Holiday season and a Smashing New Year!!
